Decent football pizza.

All the hubbub was about the “Tavern Pie,” deemed a must-try by the OneBite community. I had high hopes and lofty expectations for this pizza; it looks supremely crispy and I thought it would be delightfully delicious…it was not. They should rename this pizza the “Grease Pie” because it is DROWNING in oil. With that bright orange tinge, it’s more of a “Pumpkin Pie.” The entire flavor of this pizza is suffocated by the vat of grease submerging the cheese, also making it impossible to distinguish the taste of the sauce. The prevailing flavors are salt from the oil-soaked cheese and bitterness from the overuse of oregano, neutralizing any sweetness from the sauce. The texture of the dough is anything but crispy; it’s a flimsy, floppy, soggy mess. Because this is a pan pizza, there’s no crust, just burnt edges like a circular version of Detroit style pizza. The crispy burnt edges are easily the best parts of the pie, but it’s not enough to salvage the overall score. This was just a massively disappointing pizza, horribly overrated, ruined by a plethora of oil. This should have been a layup in the 7s but it turned out to be all bark and no bite. In a bit of foreshadowing, the smell inside the pizzeria was that of hot garbage, an unpleasant, gross, foul stench. I’ve never walked into a pizza joint that didn’t smell tantalizingly terrific. That was the first sign of trouble in what wound up being a major letdown.

Never been more let down by a pizza. Expected mid 8’s by the looks, but in reality got a greasy, sloppy, mess.

Jenny and I were excited for the Tavern Pie, thin and crispy is our favorite type of Pizza. We are there and had a soup and salad to start, which were fantastic. The service was attentive and great. I wish all these things could make up for the pizza. Unfortunately, the pizza looks great but doesn’t taste it. It reminded us of Chuck E Cheese Pizza and even 7/11. Granted it’s better than those but the taste threw us off. They put everything out the kitchen sink on it but it didn’t blend very well. However, I think I will go back and try their regular pie cause this place has great food- it’s just not the tavern pie.

A thin slice with a good amount of oil and cheese. The slightest of flop with a semi-crispy crust. Way too much seasonings on the pizza.

Pizza flavorful, bit greasy. Alright slice

Always a good solid slice. Crust is always pretty crispy. Cheese could be alittle lighter IMO.

Tavern pie

Classic football Pizza. Great family owned business. The pizza (we asked for well done) was cooked perfectly. The cheese was flavorful and the sauce had a nice tang to it. Nice crisp. Sicilian pie was big and another go to! I would recommend these guys without reservation. Solid 7.4

So I've been going to these guys for over 15 years. I've grown up on their pizza, and it's sad to say that I've never had a Tavern pie until now. To start the sauce was amazing on the sweet side which I prefer on pizza. I will say I thought it was going to be crisper, so it did have a decent flop. I love pizza crust, and was sceptical bc it has none, but I was extremely happy with this pie.

Football pizza. More cheese than sauce which makes the pizza feng shui off a bit. Intimate setting inside
